Helen Virginia Galloway, age 84, passed away on May 6, 2023
Helen Virginia Galloway was born August 11th, 1938 in Washington North Carolina to Zollie and Sarah Moore (both preceded her in death). She was the youngest of four daughters. After graduating high school, she attended North Carolina A&T College where she met her beloved husband William Edward Galloway Sr. After a year of courtship, they got married in 1958 and relocated to Westbury, New York where they started their family. This union lasted over 60 years.
In 1971, the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where she concentrated on taking care of her family. Upon arrival she joined Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Daniel Pierce and faithfully served as President of the Choir. She continued to serve under the leadership of Reverend Donald Newsom, serving on the Mother’s Board.
After several years, she began working for Cleveland Public Schools where she started as a lunch attendant and then was promoted to cook. She worked in this position until she retired in 2000. In her years of retirement, she enjoyed babysitting her three youngest grandchildren. For her other grandchildren, she always looked forward to talking to them on the phone.
After the death of her husband, she moved her membership to the House of Jubilee Ministries under Apostles Willie and Michelle Trotter. She loved attending and playing her tambourine during praise and worship. She was known to always be smiling, encouraging, and being a mother to all. She would often tell people about the goodness of the Lord. Mother Galloway spent much of her time at her assisted living facility always discussing the Bible with caregivers who would stop by to check on her.
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, Mother Galloway passed away peacefully, preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Galloway Sr., and her son, Ronnie Dane Galloway. three siblings: Sadie Bell, Leona, and Jeanie.
She will be missed by her children William Edward Galloway Jr. (Barbara), Cheryl Denise Galloway, Darryll Alexander Galloway Sr. (Florida), and E’nise Helene Gary (Willie), as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
