Herbert Whiting Junior was born on June 22, 1961, at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Herbert was the fifth child born to Herbert Sr. and Jane Moore Whiting.
Herbie graduated from George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, New York, and after graduation, joined the Marine Corps. Herbert received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, and by November 1989 had moved to Akron, Ohio, and married Colette Denise Roberts. To this union, two children were born: Kara Denise Roberts Whiting and Kylan Anthony Whiting. His oldest son is Kyrief Campbell.
He LOVED his children, and they ADORED him!
Herb was employed by Malco Products in Barberton, Ohio. He was an avid bowler and spent many days on the lanes with his buddy Kennard Woods. A diehard Michigan football fan and Buffalo Bills fan, he also spent many weekends watching the games with another good buddy, Chris Holly.
Herb’s true joy was his children. They spent many Fridays after Thanksgiving going on what he would call “THE RUN,” which involved getting Christmas decorations that would fill the house.
Herb loved hard. He fought for those he loved and what he believed in.
Herb had MANY nicknames: Big Cheese, G, Uncle Chunky.
He is predeceased by his father, Herbert Whiting Sr.; mother, Jane Moore Whiting; brother, Andre Whiting; and mother-in-law, Doris L. Roberts.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Kyrief Campbell (Ulina), Kara D. Hopson (Travis), and Kylan Whiting (Chyenne); former wife, Colette D. Yanchak; sisters: Elaine Titus (Sony), Vivian Browne, Maryanne Middleton (Steven), and Vanessa Whitehead (Timothy); brothers: Leon Whiting (Lisa), Anthony Whiting (Antoinette), and Derrick Whiting; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Special mention to the Hoyt Street crew and friend Larry Gladman.
Sleep well, Chunk!
