Ida Denyse Hardge was born on December 20, 1950. She was raised in Dayton, Ohio, where she attended Nettie Lee Roth High School and graduated in 1969. She departed this life, on earth, on Friday, July 21, 2023. Her love for others, bright smile and empowering presence will always be remembered.
Mot. L. McCoy was running a revival in Dayton, Ohio when Denyse was 19. There, she received the gift of the Holy Ghost in her mother’s home. Shortly after, she moved to Cleveland where she attended Sharon Pentecostal Church of God under the late Pastor Bishop A. D. Porter. In 1973, she was united in marriage to Deacon Johnny Hardge, Sr. and to this union, six children were born.
In 1981, the Lord led Denyse to Apostolic Church of God/Benevolent Love Ministries, under the leadership of the late Elder Willie L. Pope where she was a charter member. There, she served as an Evangelist and an Associate Pastor, wearing many hats to help build and maintain the ministry.
Denyse loved to sing and serve in ministry. She loved a variety of other activities, including crocheting/knitting and shopping/traveling. She spent decades selling Mary Kay and cosmetics. She absolutely loved cooking and baking for family and friends, especially on holidays.
Denyse spent 20+ years in healthcare, focusing on helping others. She lived out her last days being cared for by her loving daughters, son-in-law Scott, and sister Lynn.
Denyse is preceded in death by both parents, Robert Henry and Ida Belle Dixon; her husband, Johnny Sr.; daughter Viola; sisters Joan M. Compton, Myrthis A. Brazzell, and Gwendolyn Armstrong.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Johnny Jr., Sean (Lindelwa), Tabitha N. Stombaugh (Scott), Dana (Ravi), Jeremy, and Brandon D. Stephens; grandchildren Sean Jr., Zachariah, Cyann, and Seth; and her beloved sister, Lynn, and a host of siblings, relatives and friends.
