Is’Shan Dean Trowsdell, age 24, of Painesville, Ohio, peacefully returned to his Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Born on August 13, 2001, Is’Shan was the beloved son of Tara Short and Lavell Trowsdell. A 2019 graduate of Riverside High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University in 2024. With a lifelong passion for aviation, he achieved certification as a Control Tower Operator in July 2025 and had just accepted a new position in Air Traffic Control in Atwater, California. He was also excitedly preparing for an upcoming trip to Australia.

Is’Shan will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, radiant smile, and deep devotion to his family—especially his beloved “Mum.” His love for travel, American Sign Language, cooking, and animals brought joy to those around him, creating lasting memories with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Tara Short and Lavell Trowsdell (Ronette); siblings, Mecca, Jayven, and Tatyana Green; grandparents, Ruby Dean Trowsdell (James R. Thompson), Ronald Green (Joyce), and great-grandmother, Arlene Thomas; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Janazah (funeral prayer) will be held at Calhoun Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery. A luncheon in his honor will follow at Masjid Bilal of Cleveland.

May Allah, the Most Merciful, grant Is’Shan Jannatul Firdaus and bless his family and friends with patience and comfort during this time of loss.

A family man , great friend , and hard worker that’s gone too soon.

There’s nothing I can say to truly convey how amazing of a person Is’Shan was. He was beyond an amazing person. He had a good heart and soul. While it saddens me to lose a friend, I feel truly blessed that God permitted us to cross paths. It’s rare to meet people with good intentions and as hard working and driven as he was. With the time he spent on this earth, he managed to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of him and he truly does inspire me. I’ll hold our work memories close to my heart forever. I won’t say goodbye but I’ll see you later Is’Shan.

I know this is a little late, but I had the pleasure of working with this beautiful young man. He would always come and say hi to me with a smile. I would show him this so he could help me down in the Baggage Service Office. He was such a joy to be around. I will miss him dearly.

I volunteered at Is’shans school when they started kindergarten Is’shan and my son Peyton were friends Every week I would get the best hugs from Is’shan and I always looked forward to those hugs. I was lucky enough to see Is’shan a couple years ago when he flew down to Arizona for Peyton’s wedding. I got that same hug I used to get when he was little. It made my day. He was “still” amazing. I pray for his family. You could tell the impact they had on this amazing young man. God got a great one back. Until I can get another hug……….

I am deeply sorry for your loss. My heart aches for your family as you grieve the passing of someone so young and full of life. At just 24, he touched the hearts of so many with his kindness, intelligence, and that unforgettable smile that could light up a room. I was a fellow student at AATC. Is’Shan was a friendly guy who always had a smile on his face. Tragic.

My deepest condolences for you’re families loss, Is’Shan was a stand up person and students at the ATC program, i learned a lot from him as his peer, he always showed up happy and dedicated to work. All of us here at the program currently feel the same about him, no doubt in any of our minds he’s resting peacefully, an amazing character to us all.
