Jacqueline Delorse Lampkin Bland Lynch, the daughter of Thomasina Dowell and Jesse G. Lampkin, was born November 4, 1933, in Pittsburg, PA. She transitioned this life on August 29, 2025, due to dementia.
Jackie, as she is affectionately known, received her elementary education at Dunbar Elementary School in Fairmount, WV and continued her education at the prestigious St. Francis Catholic Boarding School for Middle and High School in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduation, she attended the historically Black college and university, Bluefield State University in Bluefield, West Virginia. While attending Bluefield State, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She married George E. Bland, her childhood sweetheart and started a family in Washington, DC. They welcomed four children into the world. While in DC, she continued to remain true to her Catholic faith and remained a dedicated Catholic until her last days.
Jackie began her professional career in Cleveland, Ohio after her divorce. She worked with medical professionals at Polyclinic Hospital where she worked in the Forensic/Medical Examiner’s Department. Later, Jackie advanced her education and joined Kaiser Permanente in the field of healthcare insurance and remained employed there until her retirement.
Later, Jackie rekindled a relationship with a childhood admirer at a school reunion that led to the marriage of Jackie and Bravett Lynch; together they lived in Baltimore, MD. After several years, they divorced. Jackie returned to Cleveland, OH and regained contact with her old friends and associates and had a very active social life. She was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and often attended games sitting in the stadium in the freezing cold with friends.
She was preceded in death by Jesse G. Lampkin (Father), Thomasina Dowell (Mother), Janie Gravely Carter (Dee Dee), one sister Arnette Lampkin Williams, one niece Cheryl Williams Mays and two nephews Reginald Williams and De’Andrea Grant Bussey.
Jackie leaves to cherish her memory: one surviving sister, Judy Lampkin Bussey (De’Andrea) of Fairmont, WV, four children, Stephen A. Bland, George E. Bland, Celeste F. Bland, and Jacqueline V. Saunders (O’Neal), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
