James Lamar Edwards, affectionally called “Bo” or “Bo James”, was born on June 26, 1947, to the late Arcley Bright and Ruth Edwards in Cleveland, Oh. Born into a large and loving family, James was one of nine siblings. Though he never married or had children, he was deeply loved by family. He peacefully took his eternal flight on Monday, June 9, 2025. James was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers, Leon, Leonard, William, and sister Callie.
James lived a quiet and peaceful life, known for his kind spirit, sharp wit, and love for the simple joys of life. He had a routine that brought him comfort-daily coffee in hand, a Pepsi, scratch-offs, and lottery tickets tucked in his pocket. He had a fondness for Wendy’s, a loyal relationship with his cigarettes, and a unique ability to find contentment in everyday moments.
A proud Air Force veteran, James served his country with honor and often spoke about his time in service-and his opinions about the government-with both conviction and humor. He had a natural sense of duty, always found walking the streets of his neighborhood, picking up trash and helping to keep his community clean.
James was a man of few words but great presence. He kept to himself, never seeking the spotlight, yet always left a quiet impact on those around him. His legacy is one of peace, independence, and authenticity.
James leaves to cherish the memories of a life well spent: three brothers, Alfred, George, and Arcley; and one sister, Joyce. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, nieces, nephews, a multitude of cousins, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
