James Mason IV was born July 21, 1962, in Akron, Ohio to James L. Mason III and Bertha M. Mason (Williams). He passed away suddenly on August 5, 2023. James, also known as Jimmy and Jimbo to his family, lived all his life in Ohio and resided at Mount Vernon Development Center at the time of his death.
Jimmy’s battles with his health and with limitations have taught us all the meaning of strength and endurance. Jimmy loved to run and loved to eat, especially his mom’s food. Even after he could no longer eat the foods he enjoyed, due to his illness, he loved to sneak a bite. Along with his beautiful smile and laugh, his family will miss his beautiful eyes and long eyelashes. The words he could not say were known by his smile, his laugh, and his look.
He was preceded in death by both parents. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sisters, Deborah Amos (John), Sabrina Lehman, Starletta Murphy (Michael), and Symphanie Moss (Willie), brother, John Mason (Debbie), and cousin, Eva Hartwell. He also leaves to mourn his passing a host of family, friends, and devoted caregivers.
