James Lee Jackson was born (in what we call pick a date) March 21, 1928, March 19, 1928 but found out that the real date is March 14, 1927 in Fort Gaines, GA one of 13 children to Dora and Plass Jackson. God called him to be with him on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 1:30 a.m.
James was a member of the U.S. Army, fighting the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged 1951. He worked for the Timken Roller Bearing for 43 years and the Canton Club for 37 years. He taught his children to have a strong work ethic.
James married the former Phyllis Byrom in June 1952. To this union they had: Veronica, James, Cheryl, Rhonda, Linda and Jeff.
He was a faithful member and head deacon of St. Paul COGIC/Rehoboth River of Living Waters. Deacon Jackson was a very timely person. At 11:15 it would begin to sing and then at 11:29 a.m. he would say, “CHURCH TIME” . Now this was the person that could no longer see good but knew what time it was. His favorite song was, “I’m a Soldier” He could be found whistling any day, anywhere, anytime, and even in the middle of service.
