Dave Lipstreu left a message on October 8, 2022:
James was a most helpful and loyal colleague during our time with the city of Aurora, Ohio. As the city's planning director, I often called upon his knowledge and expertise for many often complex projects. We also shared a love of jazz that frequently occupied our conversations. James also possessed a great sense of humor, which came in very handy during some difficult moments in both of our careers. I will miss him greatly. Gate gate parasamgate bodhi svaha- gone gone beyond all suffering all hail joy! Dave Lipstreu Newark, Ohio

James, we worked through a lot of situations, and yes, I was your lawyer, but through it all we became good friends. We had a falling out, but thank God Chaunte got us back together. You were so proud of what you were overcoming after the stroke, and rightly so. You had dreams of how you were going to rebuild your life and then illness reared its ugly presence. I was so used to helping you out of things, and couldn't protect my friend from something beyond us both. I miss you, my friend. May God hold you in his heart always.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
