Janet Rae (Mobley) Lash was the firstborn child of Albert and Catherine Mobley, making her debut in Akron, Ohio on January 21, 1936.
Janet first began serving Christ at the original Second Baptist Church. Here she served in many capacities two of her favorites were as an usher and as director of the Jr. Usher Board. She continued both her roles at Tabernacle Baptist church.
Born and raised in south Akron, she matriculated through Akron Public Schools, graduating from Garfield High School. She attended Akron University while also working at St. Thomas Hospital.
Janet married Richard A. Lash August 6, 1960. They spent 44 years together until his passing. They raised 3 children-Erika, Richard II (Ricky) and Nicole.
Janet retired from Roadway Express where she started in Keypunch, working her way to the Marketing Department.
Janet was an active member in many organizations. She was active in the NAACP, participated in many volunteer activities with the Urban League, heavily involved in the elementary, jr. high and high school PTA, Boosters and held many offices as a member of Jack and Jill Inc. She enjoyed working in her yard, good music, traveling, and catching up with friends on the phone.
Anything her children had an interest in, she was there to support. From school plays, orchestra concerts, dance recitals, football, baseball, track, cheer, awards ceremonies-she was always there. She was also known to have a car full of kids going to vacation bible school, choir rehearsal, meetings, after school functions or summertime at the pool.
It seemed as though she knew everyone-striking up conversations at the grocery store, gas station or other places while running her errands.
Janet received her wings April 21, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Albert, and Catherine Mobley; husband, Richard A. Lash; mother-in-law, Hallie (Hurt) Lash; brothers-in-law, James V. Lash and William F. Lash; grandchildren, Ryan, Rani and Ria Lash.
She leaves to celebrate her entrance into the Kingdom, brother, Albert (Edith) Mobley II; sister, Sally (Major) Simmons; children, Erika Lash, Ricky Lash, Nicole (Henry) Washington; grandchildren: Brittany, Mason, Saje; great-grandchild: Roman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
