I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Janice Davis was born April 8, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents Clark Shelton and Gracie Sledge. She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, Ronald Davis.
Janice migrated to Cleveland, OH in 1960. She attended Cleveland Public Schools and was a graduate of Glenville High School. She always had an interest in law and her coursework throughout high school prepared her for a career as a legal secretary.
She met the man of her dreams, Ronald Davis, while growing up on Garfield Avenue. They were childhood friends who made many long-lasting memories. So, it was no surprise that they would become husband and wife and they continued to make more loving memories until Ronald’s death.
Janice was employed by legal firms in Cleveland, most notably, Squires, Sanders and Dempsey and Baker Hosteler. Her employers found her to be a dedicated and loyal employee.
Those who knew Janice came to know her because she simply never met a stranger. Her outgoing personality, her infectious smile, her love for others and her willingness to help anyone made her a friend who would be remembered. The same was so with her family, be it a sister, cousin, niece or nephew, Janice was the one person everyone knew would always be willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Janice was a member of the Disciples Christian Church. She served faithfully until her health began to fail. Her love of the Lord was evident by all who knew her as she would often share her stories of faith and her trust in God.
She enjoyed watching television and her favorite shows were the Young and Restless, games shows and any Tyler Perry movie. Janice loved to cook, and she loved to eat even more. A good meal to her was one that not only she enjoyed but if others around the table enjoyed the meal as well it brought a smile to her face!
Janice leaves to cherish her memory and forever celebrate her life and legacy, sisters Jeannette (Willie) Pham and Schnelle (Derrick) Robinson; sisters-in-law Leola Davis and Patricia Davis; nephew Willie Pham, Jr., nieces Priscilla Pham, Quanesia Leigh, Dierra Robinson; great nieces, Zamareya Wilder, D’Vannae Ward and great nephew Dorian Lewis Barringer, Jr.; Godson, William Lipscomb; special cousin Darlene Porter; long-time friend Karen Paul and a host of other family and friends.
On March 7th, we are confident that she heard the Lord say, ………“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:23
