Janice Elaine Nash, lovingly known to all as Jan, peacefully transitioned from this life on Thursday, October 30, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family and closest friends.
Born on April 14, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Jean Marie and James Nash, Sr., Jan was the youngest of four children and brought endless joy to her family from the very start.
At 14, Jan met the love of her youth, Charles Pearson, and from that union came her beloved daughter, Tanisha. In 1972, Jan proudly graduated from Glenville High School.
Not long after, she began working at The Meeting Place as a barmaid—a time she fondly remembered as “the best days of her life.” There, she reconnected with a high school friend, Michael Hawkins, and together they welcomed their son, Tahji. For ten years, Jan was a familiar and friendly face at The Meeting Place, later continuing her bar maid career work at Johnny & Co. before returning to Ford Motor Company in 1995.
At Ford, Jan led with strength and grace as a Team Leader for Department V6 at the Brookpark Plant, where she dedicated 30 years of service before retiring in February 2024.
Of all the roles Jan held in life, none meant more to her than being Mommy to Tanisha and Tahji, and Granny to her grandsons, Coby and Malachi. Her children were her heart, and even in her toughest days, her thoughts were always with them. Sundays were her favorite—cheering proudly at Coby’s football games and laughing as Malachi “borrowed” her phone to watch Cocomelon.
Jan’s love, laughter, and loyalty touched everyone who knew her. Her kindness and quick wit made her unforgettable, and her strength inspired all who witnessed her journey.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Jean and James, and her sister, Joyce Massey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Tanisha Bryant and Tahji Hawkins; her loving siblings, James (Vandylia) Nash Jr. and Jacqueline (Roderick) Hinson; her adored grandchildren, Christian Bryant, Coby Bryant, and Malachi Hawkins; her dearest friends, Kim Johnson, Wendy Johnson, and Janice Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever carry her in their hearts.
Jan’s spirit will live on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the strength of her children, and the countless lives she touched with her warmth and love.
