Jerry Sales was born in Huntsville, Alabama on February 13, 1955, to the late, I. W. Harris and Johnnie Mae Sales Harris. Jerry spent his formative years in Madison County attending New Hope Elementary School. After elementary, he attended Stone Junior High School then later, Huntsville High School. During high school, Jerry became “a standout basketball star averaging 14 points per game”, says Huntsville coach, Billy Whorton. After graduating high school, Jerry relocated to Akron, Ohio in 1975 when he married Dorothy R Sales and started a family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy R. Sales; and his first born son, Jerry C. Sales of Huntsville.
Left to honor his memory forever are his six sons, Julius Sales, Dwight Sales, Dallas Sales, Trey Sales, Chordelle Sales, and Brandon Sales all of Akron, Ohio; many grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; significant other, Theresa Watson; siblings, Larry Sales, Edna Harris Humpry, Mildred Harris Tutt, I. W. Harris Jr., and Tony Harris; aunts, Pearlie Mae Sales and Bobby Sykes; uncles, Billy Sales and Paul Sales; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
