Joann Ravnell proceeded on her journey suddenly to receive her heavenly reward on June 17, 2025. She was proceeded in death by her parents Melvin Johnson and Alfredora Ravnell.
Joann was a lifetime resident of Youngstown, Ohio. She later moved to Akron. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. Throughout her life she has embraced various job roles with dedication and warmth working as a bartender, a card dealer and provided housekeeping services in both a hospital and a nursing home setting. Each of those positions showcased her vibrant spirit and commitment to caring for those around her.
Jo as she was affectionately known as loved various forms of entertainment including playing bingo, scratching off lottery tickets, playing cards, and enjoying the thrill of gambling. Joann was a passionate fisher. She also cherished her time as a sous chef alongside her daughter creating memorable culinary experiences.
Joann leaves to mourn her untimely passing, Daughter Lynette Ravnell (Kemoni Cummings), son Terry Walker, Sisters Patricia Ravnell, Barbara White, Albertina Thornton, Debra Ann Johnson, Peggy Corley, Loretta Ross, Brothers Melvin Johnson Jr., and Lee-Mathew Johnson. Grandchildren Terry Walker Jr., Traylin Smith, and Lashaza Barnes. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin Johnson and Alfredora Ravnell, brother Rodney Johnson, sister Christine Brannon, and granddaughter Dominique Ravnell. Joann also leaves a host of other family and friends who she loved deeply.
