JoAnne Martin, the middle child of Robert and Mary Martin, departed this earthly journey on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 7, 1957, JoAnne loved family, friends, and having fun. Family was so important to her that she babysat and cared for many members.
JoAnne was a trooper and God “changed her life and story” when she was baptized and became a member of Second Baptist Church. She was very proud of her decision to join Second Baptist Church, and often boasted about her pastor, Dr. Roderick Pounds, and his weekly Bible Study classes. Her faith kept her “going and going” like an Ever-Ready battery.
Her hobbies and talents were many, but her absolute favorites were BID WHIST and BINGO! Her baby sister, Suzette, will miss her cooking and tutoring sessions in Bid Whist. JoAnne will be fondly remembered for her caring spirit, babysitting talents, cabbage and greens, bright smile, and her faith in God until the very end. Her heart throbbed constantly for her handsome son, Royce Fry, and beautiful granddaughter, Mira. Cooking for family, friends, strangers, and her Northside buddies, brighten her day.
JoAnne was preceded in death by parents Robert and Mary Martin; brothers, Robert Lee Martin, Jr., and Ronald Allen Martin.
Left to cherish her memory forever are her son, Royce Fry; granddaughter, Mira Fry; special friend, Kenny Fry; sisters, Hanifah (Ako) Kambon of Atlanta, Georgia and Suzette Lewis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; “play sister”, Ladonna Hunter; caregiver, Cristel Silas of Akron, Ohio; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, many cousins of Ohio, California, Washington D.C., and her special Northside friends.
