John E. Tyson, 72, received his wings on October 2, 2022, at his home of 40+ years in Akron, Ohio.
John was born on May 17, 1950, in Clayton, Alabama to Eddie and Rosalee Tyson. He was raised in Mesopotamia, Ohio. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He began a career in the transportation industry and later retired from the Consolidated Freightways.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing the piano. He had a longtime love for music. Anyone that had the honor of knowing “Mr.T”, knew he was the true definition of strength, tenacity, and honesty. He possessed a “heart of gold,” which caused him to love genuinely. John was a man of integrity, who walked in loyalty and expected those around him to live by the same “life code.”
John never met a stranger with his infectious laugh and sense of humor, even though he was a man of few words.
John E. Tyson will be missed and loved forever. He was predeceased by his parents, Eddie Tyson and Rosalee Tyson; beloved aunt, Emma Lewis; brothers, Hosea Tyson and Robert Tyson.
John is survived by his wife, Yvonne Tyson; son, Drew Scruggs; daughter, Regina Tyson; grandchildren, Lennox Wells and Lyric Wells; sister; Mary Singleton; special niece, Stacy Boyd, and a host of beloved family and friends.
