John Wayne Greer was born July 15, 1946 in Huron, Tennessee to the late Otis Greer and Norgia Teague. Together, they birthed 2 children; John and Elaine Greer. Later in life, John’s mother married the late Leonard Essick, with whom 4 more children were born: Sandy, Fontaine, Ricky and Len Essick.
John graduated from South High School and was later employed at Sparkle Market for a short period. He became disabled and never married, nor had children.
He enjoyed music, dancing, pets, cooking skating and visiting the sick and shut-ins. He also enjoyed spending time with family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norgia Essick; father, Otis Greer; sister, Elaine Greer; step-father, Leonard Essick; brother, Len Essick and brother-in-law, Richard Terrell.
He leaves to mourn his passing his siblings, Sandy, Ricky and Fontaine Essick-Skipper; also Tiffany Essick-Alexander and Derek Smothers; special nephews, Gavin Essick Bell, Richard Terrell, Armoni and Angelo Alexander ; special niece, Lashawn Terrell; special cousins, Beverly, Girty-Mae, Sarah-Ruth and Paul Wayne Greer; and a host of other cousins, family members and friends.
