Mother Kate (Turner) Allison was born in Washington, Georgia on November 16, 1921, to the late Frank and Martha (Gladman) Turner and was the youngest of their 11 children (now deceased). She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church before she moved North with family members and eventually settled in Akron, Ohio with her son Daniel Turner (deceased). Her second son, Herbert Harris (deceased) remained with family members in Georgia.
In her younger years in Akron, Mother Kate worked in housekeeping at City Hospital. She later became a cosmetologist and worked as a shampoo assistant at the Lucille Cato Beauty Shop.
On July 24, 1951, Mother Kate married the late Rev. Thomas J. Allison and became an active member and First Lady at the Beulah Baptist Church which Rev. Allison pastored for 8 ½ years. Thereafter, Mother Kate and her family joined the Prince of Peace Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and on the missionary circle. She was lovingly referred to there as “Mother Allison.” She was a homemaker and cared for her husband for many years until his passing in 2005.
In 2007, Mother Kate was led to join the Arlington Church of God with her son Daniel (deceased) and daughter-in-law Hellen, where she attended faithfully. Mother Kate was a sweet woman who loved God, her family, and her church.
Two weeks after she was blessed to see her 103rd birthday, Mother Kate left her earthly body and went to be with the Lord. She will be greatly missed and leaves to mourn: daughter-in-law Hellen Turner; grandchildren Traci (Turner) Wilkerson (New York) and Daniel Turner, Jr. (Pennsylvania) and their spouses William E. Wilkerson, Jr. and Nicole Myers Turner; great grandchildren Maya Wilkerson (New York), William E. (Melissa) Wilkerson, III (Virginia), Nicholas E.
