Keith W. Tolbert, age 42, departed from this world on 08 March 2020 at Akron City Hospital emergency room.
He was born in Akron, Ohio to parents Violet Clark Tolbert and Kevin L. Tolbert. Keith was loved, cherished and raised by his paternal grandmother Doris M. Tolbert since age 6. He attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Walsh Jesuit High School. Keith attended Job Corp and Akron University after graduation. His employment history included The Sandwich Board, Marc’s, and volunteering at the Cathedral of Tomorrow.
Keith had a history of illness and disability which impaired his ability to maintain steady employment. In his last few years, Keith’s poor health status required that he reside in long term care facilities. Keith made the best of his circumstances finding joy in caring for his pet cats. He collected caps, video games, and stuffed monkeys. He met and fell in love with a wonderful lady named Janice (Jan). For the last 5 years or more Keith and Jan have been companions and roommates. Together they shared the joy of television entertainment, games, food, and conversation. This past February 2020, they were engaged to be married at Bath Manor. The plans were postponed due to health issues.
Keith was a lovable young man who endured multiple hardships, yet, never displayed self-pity and managed to greet family and friends with a beautiful smile and jovial laugh.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Tolbert, great-grandmother, Cornelia Woods; grandmother, Doris Tolbert and mother, Violet Tolbert. He is survived by aunts, Alease Tolbert Vaughn, Annette Tolbert Williams; brother, Richard John; also left to cherish his memories are his fiancé, Janice (Jan) Johnson; good friend and supporter, Jim Johnson, childhood, friend, LaTray Watters ( Cartel Loc) and a host of other friends and relatives
