Larry G. Coleman, Jr., 61, born September 8, 1964 earned his wings on January 5, 2026.
Larry was born in Akron to Larry G. Coleman, Sr., and the late Dwan Averiette Coleman. He graduated from Firestone High School in 1983, where he played football and ran track and was a three-year letterman in both sports. He was loved by many and his gentle, kind ways were unforgettable. Following high school, Larry joined the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1986 as a Private First Class.
Upon his return to Akron, Larry began his career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2010. During his Postal career, he pursued body-building, participating in various competitions throughout the State of Ohio.
All who knew Larry, knew of his love for his family, especially his daughter, Tyler and granddaughter, Avah. He also enjoyed the freedom of riding his Harley, playing golf, and rooting for his Dallas Cowboys.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory father, Larry Sr. (Rachelle), his devoted sister and brother-in-law, Tracey (Greg) Brown, nephew, Jerred (Julia) Brown, and niece, Jasmine Brown; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17 from Noon to 1 p.m. at Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton Street, Akron, where a funeral service will be held at
1 p.m. with Reverand Nathan Poole officiating. Internment will take place later at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, with military honors.
