Larry Oneal Cox was born July 2, 1951, to the late Addie Lee Cox and Walter Cox Sr. He departed this life on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023.
Larry grew up in Arkansas and graduated from WF Branch High School. He relocated to Ohio in 1969. He was employed at Modern Tool & Die in Brunswick Ohio for many years.
Larry married his high school sweetheart of 53 years, Shirley Ann Gillispie whom he affectionately called “Boo Boo”.
Larry loved his family, especially his daughter who was a “DADDY’S GIRL” whatever she wanted he made it happen. He kept his grandchildren in line. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Larry loves the Lord, he was a member of St. Paul AME Church, in Akron Ohio, under the leadership of Pastor Bruce Butcher. He enjoyed good Quartet music and was very supportive of his wife’s music ministry. He did not miss a Newport Christianaire or Lil Unity, Anniversary, Larry would be at the door getting that money.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Addie and Walter Cox Sr, brothers, Walter Cox Jr., Richard Lee Cox and James Henry Cox, sister, Barbara Gean Ratliffe, and Great Grandsons, LaMonte Edward O’Neil Graves Jr. and Amir Miller.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Shirley, daughter, Contance Annette (Robert) Edmondson, Son Walter O’Neil Cox, all of Akron, Ohio, Brothers, (Charles) Pruitt of Newport AR, Ersalene Shorter and Cynthia Cox Wilson of Little Rock AR, one Sister-in-Law Jeanette Powell of Wagarville, Alabama, Grandchildren, Lamarr Graves, Laquita Graves, Lamonte Graves, LaRia Graves, and Nia Bracy, 23 Great Grandchildren God Daughter Minister Felecia Nicholson and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Family and friends.
