LaTonya Player-Reid was born June 2, 1965, to Rosetta Yarbrough and Lawrence Player Sr. at Mt. Sinai hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Rosetta was so overjoyed to give birth to her first daughter, she was the apple of her eye. At an early age LaTonya gave her life to Christ at the Temple Baptist Church. She continued to praise and worship God at Agape Christian Center.
In the early 80’s, LaTonya found her first love Martinez Prevost and from this union Marquise Jenise, Dartanion Jonathan, and Gabrielle Ashley were born. Several years later, she met and married Aundre who quickly became the love of her life. To this union, she gained two bonus children, Ashawntia Reid and Julius Reid.
LaTonya was known for her style, her smile, and her love for hosting. She was integral in helping her extended family remain connected through planning and executing multiple family reunions, bringing generations of family members together. She also loved cooking and entertaining people. She partnered with her husband to create a full-service catering business. In addition to being a business owner and licensed cosmetologist, LaTonya worked in the public sector for over 30 years. With tenures within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, and the Cleveland Clinic. She was truly loved by her family, her friends and her colleagues. Latonya was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Aundre. Her mother Rosetta Yarbrough, her father Lawrence Player Sr. , her grandmother Callie Davis, her bonus father Charlie Moten, her brother Raymond, her sister Cleonius and her uncles Melvin Yarbrough and Yerger Yarbrough.
She leaves to be loved and cherished by her brothers Lawrence Player Jr. (Veronica), Charles Moten (Stephanie), and David. Her aunt Williene Moten. Her sister Altheria Gresham (James). Her children Marquise (Adrian), Dartanion, Gabrielle (Eric), Ashawntia, and Julius. Her bonus daughter Angela Hamilton. Her grandchildren Maurelle, Raymonique, Quron, Aryzona, Marquis, Jordan, Emari and LaRon. Her great-grandchildren Elias, Raymel, Theodore, Raychael, Rayonia, and Rayvier, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Especially the Golden Girls whom she loved unconditionally – Michelle A., Michelle G., Denine, Dominique, Helen, Linda and Janelle.
