Celebrating the life of Leroy Bonner February 9, 1947 – April 14, 2025

Leroy Bonner, born on February 9, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio to Audrey Bonner. Then later raised by his foster parents John C. and Louise Green. He was the oldest of 14 children.
Leroy attended John Adams High School (The Rebels), class of 1965. where he participated in several sports such as track and was also part of the bowling team for the high school. After High school Leroy went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corp. Corporal Bonner was a decorated officer who also served in the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, Leroy came back to Cleveland Ohio where he settled and started working at TRW. He held a position in the banking industry as a teller until he found his roots in his career with Shaker Rapid Transit, now known as (RTA) Regional Transit Authority. Leroy was loved by all his co-workers and the customers and riders of the city. To know Leroy was to love him as everyone affectionately called him “Bear”. He then became a supervisor for RTA where he worked and held that position until he retired in 2001.
Leroy shared his heart and home with Gwennett C Bonner. Of that marriage there were 2 children born. He later found love again when he started with Shaker Rapid Transit and opened his heart to Brenda G Polley and of that union came 1 Stepdaughter and 2 children were born.
Outside of his work and home life, Leroy was well known in the bowling community where he loved the game of Bowling. He also shared this love with Brenda and got his children involved. He loved sports. He played soft ball with the RTA league. Leroy also loved traveling and going to the casino. He would take may trips all over and he would also host card parties with family and friends. He bowled and traveled up until he couldn’t. Leroy has also been known for his love of westerns, wrestling, watching shows such as Judge Judy, Pictionary and 25 words or less. He lived life to the fullest and on his terms until the lord called him home on April 14, 2025.
He leaves to cherish his memory parents John and Louise Green who preceded him in death. 5 daughters Tanya L Bonner who preceded him in death, Sonya K Bonner, Tonia D. Polley (stepdaughter), Latisha N Bonner, Brenda L Tuck. 1 Brother Lonzel Bonner (Mae Frances), Best friend Will Battle (Sandra), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
