Letha Pearl Slatton-Byers was born June 3, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama, to Andrew and Isabell Slatton. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Her parents joined Greater Avery AME church, where Letha participated in the youth choir.
Letha was raised in a loving home where she was the oldes of six children. She was a very moticated young woman, education was very important to her.
Letha graduated from East High School, she went on to further her education at Kent State University and Cuyahoga Community College. She enjoyed travelling and her family. She retired from Kaiser Permanente.
Letha married Charles E. Byers and from their union they had Gregory Anthony Byers, Sr. Letha was proceeded in death by her parents, Isabell and Andrew Slatton, sister Eleanor Groomster, brother Gerald Slatton and Granddaughter Ketra Byers-Whitfield. Left to cherish her memory are her son Gregory (Amina); sisters Andrea Penick, Tanya Slatton, Valene Price and bonus sister Betty Lou Springer; her grandchildren, Asia (Habib), Gregory (Kim), Juanita, Austin, Benjamin, Jazmine and Kristopher, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
