Obituary of Linda M. Smith
Linda M. Smith was born on March 24, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the union of Lewis Kelly Banks and Margaret Banks. She peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Linda accepted Christ at a young age under the spiritual leadership of her parents at Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ (COGIC), where her faith was firmly established.
In her early years, Linda fell in love and married Ollie Booker. From this union came four beloved children: Pedro, Nicole, and Mahogany Booker, and Alfonzo Banks.
Linda began her professional career as a lamp specialist and later found long-term employment with Progressive Insurance Company, where she worked as a mail support specialist. Known for her warmth and devotion, Linda was inseparable from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found immense joy in spending time with her family and showering them with unconditional love. To know her was truly to love her.
A proud native of Cleveland, Linda was educated in the local school system and raised in a strong Christian household. She was a faithful and active member of People’s Church of God in Christ until her health no longer allowed her to attend regularly. During her time at the church, she served as a choir member, youth choir director, Bible study teacher for children, and was always willing to lend a hand in the church kitchen. Her presence and commitment made a lasting impact in the life of the church.
Linda will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Nicole, Pedro, and Mahogany Booker; her sister, Geneva Banks; her best friend, Vivian Henderson; and her grandchildren: Destin’e, Aaliyah, Somora, Trinity, and Javier Booker, Kendrell King, Solomon Grice, Nautica Grice, Dallas Shannon, Willie Williams, and Lakeisha Mims.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lewis Kelly, and Margaret Banks; her son, Alfonzo Banks; and her siblings: Edward Banks, Mary Bee Banks, Lewis Kelly Banks Jr., and Gloria Jean Banks.
The family of Linda M. Smith extends heartfelt thanks for the love, prayers, and expressions of support shown during this difficult time. A special thank you to People’s Church of God in Christ, Pastor Nash, and First Lady Nash, your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
