With heavy hearts and a profound sense of sorrow, coupled with a deep sense of loss, we bid farewell to our beloved matriarch, Lola Deloris Wilson, née Haughton. On October 29th, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, Lola made her peaceful transition from this world.
Lola was not just a name but an embodiment of love, strength, faith, and compassion. Born on May 15, 1942, in Sav-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica, WI, she was the cherished daughter of Harold Haughton and Videl Evelyn Vernon. She was a beacon of hope, resilience, and faith – brightly shining in our lives.
As she traversed life, her faith served as her compass. Lola unfailingly shared the love of Christ with everyone she met, illuminating their paths with her unwavering faith.
Lola’s warmth and dedication became the cornerstones of two religious halls: the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, fondly known as Falmouth Parish Church, and later the Buehler Church of God, where she not only served but was also adored and respected by every member.
Her life found its rhythm when she met her soulmate, Denzil Wilson, in 1964. Their love was not merely an emotion but an enchanting tale, which they sealed in wedded bliss on December 22, 1972, in Birmingham, England. From their blessed union, they welcomed three beautiful souls into their lives: Arnella (Sandra), Denzil, Jr. (Junior), and Dean.
In the Summer of 1980, Lola and Denzil realized their dream of immersing themselves in the United States, where their family legacy continued to flourish with their three children.
Lola was not only a devoted wife and nurturing mother but also a cherishing grandmother and a beloved sister. She leaves behind her children Sandra, Denzil Jr and Dean; grandchildren Jasmine, Keshia, Alana, Ryan and Jahiem; great-grandchildren Aaden Walker and Madison O’Neal; siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
With a respected professional presence, Lola started her career as a clerk at Watson’s Off Course Betting, Ltd in 1969 and rose to become a Regional Manager. Balancing her career, faith, and family, she personified grace and dedication.
Lola’s life was akin to a beautiful sonnet, harmoniously blending love, faith, strength, and kindness. She was the glue that lovingly held together her biological and church family. The beauty of her soul transcended bloodlines, creating bonds of love and kindness that will endure forever.
Yes, her physical presence is no more, creating an irreplaceable void. Still, let us find comfort in knowing Lola’s unyielding love, faith, strength, and spirit will continue to inspire her legacy, comforting and guiding each one of us. As we say our final goodbye, let’s celebrate the extraordinary life of a loving, truly exceptional woman.
May we carry Lola’s undying spirit in our hearts, nurturing the torch of love, faith, strength, and kindness she passed on to us. Our hearts overflow with gratitude for all the heartfelt condolences extended to us in this grieving time.
Lola, as you journey to eternity, you remain alive in our hearts, always and forevermore.
