Maceo Redd Jr. “Mace” was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 3, 1961, the fifth child of Maceo Redd Sr. and Gloria (Matthews) Redd who were married August 13, 1955.
Maceo attended school in the Cleveland Public school system until 1975, when the family moved to Cleveland Heights. He attended Cleveland Heights School System during the late 70’s.
Growing up, Maceo loved going on camping trips with his family, and fishing and catching frogs with his sons when he lived in North Bloomfield, Ohio.
Maceo “Mace”, one of the many nicknames he was known by, had a personal and unique relationship with God. He had a protective attitude when it came to his siblings and cousins, who were also raised by his father and mother.
In 2001, Maceo married the mother of his children, Sandra Calhoun Redd. To this union four children were born. His children knew Maceo as a strict and protective father, and one who commanded order and structure in his household. Maceo had a Godly love for his family and children as expressed in the way he interacted with them and how he raised his children.
Maceo was a self-taught carpenter and auto mechanic, and was known as an all-around handyman who did home remodeling projects on many of the homes he and his family lived in. He liked cooking unique dishes, and taught his daughter, Tyresa, his culinary skills!
He was known as a jokester in the family, often playing practical jokes and creating humor at gatherings with family and friends. He enjoyed “Ole School” music and loved to sing.
Maceo was preceded in death by his sons, Antoine Calhoun and Maceo Calhoun, and sibling Jolene Murray.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing, Maceo Redd Sr. (father), Gloria (Matthews) Redd (mother), the Mother of his children, Sandra Calhoun Redd, Tyresa Lewis (daughter), Antonio Calhoun (son), siblings Carmella Vaughters, Andrea Harris (Phillip), Connie Redd, Toni Heard, Yolanda Murray, Cheryl Hall (Eugene), James Murray, and Raymond Redd, his loving grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
