Madeline Williams, affectionally known as “Mom Madeline”, was born in Rosemont, West Virginia to the late, Joseph Holyfield and Georgia Malone.
She transitioned from this life to eternal life on Wednesday March 16, 2022, at the Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She married the love of her life, Charles U. Williams, and to this union five children were born: Rodney, Patricia, Barbara, Diana, and Kathryn.
Other than being an excellent wife and mother, Madeline worked at Polsky, JC Penney, as a house mother at the Children’s Home, and enjoyed being a den mother for the Girl Scouts of America.
Madeline was a faithful member of the Arlington Church of God and served under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Ronald J. Fowler. She used her special gifts and graces to teach Sunday School and to work with the Women of the Church of God. Until her health began to fail her, she was a regular participant in the Wednesday night prayer meeting and worship service on Sunday morning. Some of Madeline’s favorite hobbies included cooking, bowling, playing scramble, traveling, and visiting many of the churches in the Akron Area, such as Faith Temple Church of the Living God and Phillips Chapel CME Church just to name a few. Her life reflected her love for God, her love for people, and her love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Williams; children, Rodney Williams and Barbara Zanders; parents, Joseph Holyfield Sr. and Georgia Malone; brothers, Joseph Holyfield Jr, Ransom Holyfield, Robert Holyfield and John Holyfield; and granddaughter, Theresa Williams.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving children, Patricia (Arthur) Green, Diana (William) Travis, and Kathryn Outley; brother, Willie Holyfield; grandchildren, Anton Green, Rodney Williams, John Outley, Jordan Outley, Franklin Murray, and Melody Murray; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
