Mae L. Henderson went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2022.  Mae was born in Parrish, Alabama on January 19, 1935, to Ruben and Essie Bell King.  She relocated to Akron, Ohio and resided there for most of her adult life.

She was educated in the Walker County (Alabama) School system and later attended Alabama A&M University. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.

She loved poetry, beautiful hats, decorating her home and the color yellow as she was affectionately known as the “Yellow Lady”. Her other passion was helping, comforting, and encouraging people.  She accomplished this through teaching Sunday School, providing religious lessons and correspondences, assisting friends and church members with funeral arrangements, and ensuring flower arrangements were provided.  In her later years, she continued encouraging people by making sure friends and church members always received cards on their birthday.

She was employed as an office manager for the Mammoth Life Insurance Company and later retired as an Educational Assistant for the Akron Public School System.

Mae was preceded in death by husband, Samuel Henderson, parents Ruben and Essie Bell King, and sisters Vera Douthit, and Lenora Holston, and niece Pamela Holston.

Mae leaves to mourn her passing; son, Samuel (Melanie) Henderson of Akron, grandchildren Greyson Henderson, Camille Henderson, and Taylor Henderson, all of Akron, Ohio: sister, Elnora Harper of Akron, sisters-in-law, Bernice Rasberry of Pinewoods, South Carolina, Mary Williams of Jasper, Alabama, Delores Henderson of Akron, and brother-in-law, Larry Henderson of Oakman, Alabama, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
