Mrs. Maggie J. Terry was born on September 25, 1933, to the union of Doc and Julia Taylor Collins in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the youngest of 5 siblings, who affectionately called her Baby Sister. All preceded her in death.

Maggie accepted Christ at an early age while attending St. Luke A.M.E Church. She graduated ahead of her slated class from Parker High School.

She married Anderson Corley Jr. in Birmingham, Alabama, and they were blessed with two children, Vicky, and Reginald Corley.

After marrying Anderson Corley, Jr., they joined a multitude of Black American southerners in 1957, migrating to Cleveland, Ohio, during the Great Migration, leaving the Jim Crow south in hope of better opportunities for them and their families.

Maggie worked as an elevator operator for WKYC and Sterling-Lindner Company before working as a CRT Operator at Bobbie Brooks. She then decided to expand her education and pursued a secretarial certificate at Cuyahoga Community College.

In 1964, she met the love of her life, John E. Terry. To this union one child, Ursla Terry, was born.

She joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized under the pastorship of Rev. Edward Small. She proudly worked as the church’s secretary for more than 30 years and started the Youth Courtesy Committee where she served as supervisor for multiple years. One of her most illustrious appointments was leading the Courtesy Committee as President for decades until her diagnosis of dementia in 2010.

Maggie and John were together for 58 years and were married for 55 glorious years. They were each other’s best friend and devoted their lives to each other until God called her home on March 1, 2023.

She leaves to mourn her husband, John E. Terry; three children, Vicky Corley, Reginald Corley (Sherry), and Ursla Terry; three grandchildren, Da’na M. Langford, Monte Glenn, and Dalia Crump; six great-grandchildren; a bonus daughter, Gloria Sadler; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
