Margaret Henderson Jones was born on May 29, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Howard Greg Henderson and Ella Mae Henderson. Margaret attended and graduated from South Hill High School.
Upon her graduation in 1963, Margaret relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended Job Corps and subsequently secured employment at Cleveland State University while preparing for her Bachelor’s Degree. Margaret retired from Cleveland State University after 42 years of service. Her extensive career primarily focused on Tax Preparation. Margaret eventually rose to the position of Director of the Union CWA, advocating for fair treatment, which exemplifies her commitment to justice and equity. She cared for equal job opportunity and fair treatment for ALL people.
During her time in Cleveland, Margaret met her neighbor, Henry Jones, who would become the love of her life. They were united in holy matrimony in May 1973. From their union, they were blessed with a daughter, Candace Jones, with whom Margaret shared a close bond.
Margaret cherished family gatherings and was an avid basketball and football fan, particularly supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers. She epitomized generosity throughout her life, always extending a helping hand to others.
Margaret embraced Jesus as her Savior and was a devout member of Bethlehem Temple of Praise Church in Cleveland, Ohio, under the leadership of Bishop Stephen D. Halton, Sr. She served faithfully on the Mother’s Board and Women’s Department, spreading love and compassion within the church community.
Margaret is survived by her husband Henry; daughter Candace; grandsons Chase and Michael Fason Jones; great-grandson Kayden; and siblings Howard (Wanda), Yvonne (Fred), Deborah (J. Michael), Raymond (Barbara), and Barbara (Emory). Additionally, she leaves many nieces and nephews, including Felecia Henderson and Marcus Henderson, along with her Godson Terrell Lewis and a host friends including Johnnie Spates, Sarah Key, and Phosia Bell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard Greg Henderson and Ella Mae Henderson, as well as her brother, William E. Henderson (Carrie).
Her legacy lives on.
