Marilyn Warren-Stephens was born April 2, 1946 to George Warren and Marie Mathis. She was the third of 4 children.
Marilyn accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church.
Marilyn enjoyed and loved school and was always on the Merit Roll or Honor Roll. She had many certificates from school which she would put on her wall at home. Marilyn ran track and was a cheerleader for a short time.
Marilyn received a couple of scholarships to college but decided to forgo college and married her husband, Gerald Stephens, Sr. in 1964. They raised Gerald Stephens II and later Andre’ L. Stephens that was born of their union.
Marilyn loved her sons and taught them to wash, clean, cook and most of all to respect and be kind to both women and their fellow man.
Marilyn loved her grandchildren but she didn’t spoil them but they all knew she loved them very much in her own way.
Marilyn loved to cook, entertain and listen to music. She made you feel like royalty when you’d come over, expected or unexpected. Marilyn loved table themes and unusual table centerpieces. She would use her crystal and china for the least little things. But most of all she loved her wine.
In January, 2017 Marilyn learned she had cancer. It was a blow at first but she never asked “Why?” Her family and friends were there for her and she was grateful and very appreciative for their caring, love and being there.
Marilyn was a mother and housewife but through the years she was an Office Assistant in the Cleveland Public Schools and a Legal Assistant for many, many years. Marilyn was also a Notary.
