Mary Magdalene (Sibley) Jagers also known as “BB” was born on November 1st, 1939, to Bernell and Cornelia Jenkins-Sibley, in Pike County, Summit, Mississippi. She is the 2d child and only girl of three children. Mary was born with a pure heart, nurturing spirit and joy filled smile. Mary was a sweet, happy, and loving child. She was the little princess and kept her brothers in line growing up. Most importantly she loved the Lord, and it exuded in everything she said and touched.
Mary attended Burglund High School and graduated in May of 1958. Mary was a Woodsworth and very good with numbers. She was still correcting the nurse’s diction and grammar usage while she was in the rehabilitation center, while she was convalescing in October. She even ended the phone conversation with her granddaughter due to the butchering of the Kin’s language. She stated, “I can’t take it anymore.”
Mary studied at university of Tennessee in, 1959. She moved to Chicago in, 1960 and continued her studies at The Chicago College if Commerce. She worked in the nursing field for many years as a Private Duty Nurse. While living and working in Chicago, Mary met Herman Louis Jagers in 1960, in Chicago. They were joined marriage on, June 16th, 1961. They were married for 47 years and raised 4 children. Mary retired from the Ohio Education School Board in 1996.
Mary loved her family and friends with all her heart. She had an extra special relationship with her cousin Rose and her lifelong friend Joyce Taylor. She had many hobbies and was involved in many Social Clubs, where she served as the Financial Secretary and Treasurer. Of the most important bowling, dancing and baking. She was an incredible cook and baker and always had a sweet treat and hearty meal to share. She was a faithful member of Christland Baptist Church for 40 plus years, where she served on the Mother’s Board, helped organize their annual Rainbow Tea and lovingly sang in the choir. She was also a Philanthropist, she donated to St. Jude’s for 20 plus years.
She is survived by her two daughters Angela Jagers and Clarissa Jagers-Watson (Joey) and son Melvin (Jagers) Holloway (Deborah). Her eleven grandchildren Daniel (Andrea), Daniell, Reginald Jr., Brittany, Reginald II, Phillip, Alexandria, David, Noah, Malik and Tamyra. Her eight Great-grandchildren, J’maron, Keon, Aiden, Amariah, Alexia, Myla, Blaize and Blaire.
She was also survived by her brothers Harry Eugene Sibley (Rachel) and Claude Sibley (Virginia). One aunt Juanita Jenkins-Downs and two uncles Lee Roy Jenkins and Wilster Jenkins. Her extended Jagers family and a large host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Herman, her son Reginald Sr., and parents. Mary Jagers was loved and cherished by so many, she never met a stranger and made everyone she came in contact will feel at home. She had a bright bubbly personality, very affectionate and loved for things to sparkle and shine. She lived her life full of love, Vigor, and Vitality.
