William G Riley Jr left a message on October 25, 2016:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. The LORD has called home one of the finest people I have ever known. I will always remember Mercedes fondly and have wonderful memories of many times spent with her and Issac during my younger years. She was my Auntie but also a good friend. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, confidant and a Great Nurse. Mercedes had a lust for life. For more than 50 years she always made sure that she stayed in contact with myself, wife, and children. She helped me make it through Vietnam and Desert storm. When I was in town she always invited me and my family over for Dinner. We always talked about the good times and never dwelled on the bad times. Mercedes gave me advice and guidance that has lasted a life time. She had the courage to take the challenge of a great roller coaster ride — making sure age was no hinderance. She was proud of her children and grandchildren. We cried together and laughed together. We shared family secrets. She was a ROCK. Mercedes will always be a part of my life. It is now her time to enjoy the rest of eternity with Issac. To the family — know that I share your grief and sorrow. Just remember - that this will pass. I was once told by Mercedes that there are things that we don’t want to happen but we must accept, things we don’t want to know but have to learn, and folks we can’t live without but have to let go. Lift up your Heart — GOD Bless. Forever in our Hearts. The Riley’s (William, Myrna, Socorro, and Rosario).
