Michael Anthony Alston Sr., was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 6, 1963, to Walther Foster and Jackie Chandler Alston (deceased). Michael attended Longwood Elementary School, Kennard Junior High School, and graduated from East Technical High School. The home of the Scarabs. In high school, Michael was known as the jokester because he kept his friends laughing and nobody could out-talk him when it came to telling jokes or cracking on somebody.
Michael worked various jobs but he knew that was not the path for him because he wanted to be his own boss. Michael took all of his crafts seriously and took them to the next level and became the Entrepreneur he was meant to be. Michael owned two businesses. Michael paid tribute to his cousin and opened up his first restaurant called Rita’s Kitchen. Rita’s Kitchen was famous for their wings and the barbeque ribs. Michael loved to drive. Therefore, when the opportunity came to open up his own trucking business, he did just that. Micah’s Trucking was established.
Michael has various nicknames but most people called him Mike or Big Mike. The toughest job Mike enjoyed most but made it look easy was becoming a father to his two children Michael Alston Jr. “Hammer”, and Micah Alston “Poodie”. But before he had his own children Mike took on the role of being the father to Hammer’s older brother Thomas Bell “Paulette Bell Mother”. He was also a father figure to a lot of cousins but the cousin who really thought Mike was her dad was Starr Larry. In Starr’s eyes, Mike was more than a cousin to her.
Family meant everything to Mike. He was an awesome and phenomenal son, brother, dad, uncle, and PaPa to his grandchild “Mielle”. Mike was outspoken, sincere, conceited, loving, and a good listener, and always willing to help. Anyone that knew Mike knew that if he didn’t curse you out at least once he didn’t care too much about you, but it was all done out of love. That was Mike’s way of letting you know that he really loved and cared about you. Mike would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar. Whatever you needed Mike would see to it that you got it. Mike left his footprint in the hearts of so many people.
On January 5, 2022, Michael Big Mike Alston was called to get his wings. Big Mike wasn’t alone at his time of passing, a longtime friend Sharronn Precious Jones “Micah’s mother” was there with him letting him listen to his favorite singer Gerald Levert.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Walter Foster; sisters, Vanessa Alston and Sheila Harrell (Eddie); son, Michael Alston Jr.; daughter, Micah Alston; granddaughter, Mielle Alson (Gabrielle Lyles); niece, Diamond Harrell; cousin who was more like a little brother, Shaun Finch; cousin who loved him unconditionally, Starr Larry; aunt, Mary; uncle, Jack; as well as a host of many cousins and friends.
A special thanks to Charles See, Eric Carter and Derrick “Boo” Walters, for always checking on Mike and Riley Buckhannon for keeping his hair clean and cut.
