Michael’s mother Karen donated one of hers, which only lasted days. Michael went home from the hospital before Karen and started a life of continuous medical care with family at his side. In the mid-1980s Michael’s condition deteriorated. With the assistance of Congressman Lou Stokes, a call went out, locally and nationally. Michael needed a kidney transplant to survive. His presence made the public aware of the need for both organ and blood donation. God blessed him with another transplant which was successful. Michael was baptized at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Cleveland as a young child. During his pre-teen and teen years, he was able to resume his studies. Michael graduated from Lutheran East High School in 1999 and attended Akron University.
Michael’s adult years, though punctuated by dialysis, transplants and a variety of surgeries at University Hospitals, were full. He enjoyed his vacations with friends. He spent time with family. He learned much from his dad about property management and construction, how to enjoy the water and fishing and how to be a respected business colleague. He loved spending time with his daughter, and recently was able to purchase a home with a designated bedroom for her. His desire to give back and serve the community directed him to a career in the Adult Care Business for the last 14 years. His work at Premier Ohio Care and consultancy to Legacy V helped to make these companies leaders in their field.
There were two women Michael especially loved his mother Karen who with a mother’s love saw him through all of his medical treatment, and his 4-year-old daughter Makayla Brielle Audrick, the joy of his life. Some of the other family members who travelled the road with Michael were: his brother Cory Audrick (Katrina); uncles William H. Audrick, III, Elwood Hardnick (Mildred), Hosea Hardnick (Yolanda Frazier), and Keith Hardnick (Toilyne); aunts Sheila Hardnick, Roshon Hardnick, Schanda Hardnick (deceased), Jacqueline Hardnick Ford (deceased), Dianne Audrick Smith; nephew Cory Audrick, Jr.; nieces Tanea Perrymond, Gabryelle Audrick; and great niece Heaven Bradford, and a host of other family members.
Michael enjoyed his many friends, travel, walleye fishing with his dad, music production, his collection of athletic shoes, and high school and professional sports. He worked hard and was dedicated to family and friends. He was highly trusted by his business associates and loved by his family and friends.
Recognizing a critical need during his last days, Michael’s last wish for his family and friends was to donate blood to the American Red Cross, to replenish the supply which was needed for him. He will be missed by all of us.
