Born December 1, 1954 to the late Edward Walker, Sr. and Mildred Walker, Michael was the third of eight children. His loving spirit departed his earthly body on Tuesday, July 16th, from prostate cancer. Although he fought a good fight, the Lord delivered him from his pain and suffering.
Michael was educated through the Cleveland Public School System. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Michael worked as a painter with his brothers Gregory and Eddie.
To say that Michael was a character, is an understatement. He loved to laugh and played jokes that many of us would talk about for years to come. Michael was known to family and friends as “Icy Mike”. He lived his life to the beat of his own drum. You could not tell him that he was not sharp, when he was dressed in his finest.
Later in life, Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Spates, Sr. and Annie Tatum Spates; uncles, M.B. Smith and Joseph Spates, Jr.; aunts, Delores Spencer and Peggy Mae Bettis: brothers, Ronald Walker, Gregory Walker and Edward Walker, Jr.; sister, Kathleen Walker Sutton; cousins, Jerome Walker, Douglas Spates, Porter Smith, Ricky Smith and Rae Evelyn Spates; nephews, Elton Battle III and Ronald D. Attaway.
