Mildred Jackson, age 84, passed away on February 1, 2023.
Mildred C. Jackson, age 84, was born on March 26, 1938, to Annie Mae Hardley Jackson and Bennie Jackson, Jr, in Union Springs, Alabama, Bullock County. She was the 8th child of 12 children. Mildred was raised on the Jackson family farm, where she and her siblings
were very close. She accepted Christ at a very early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Mildred later pursued education at Carver High School in Union Springs Alabama. Mildred migrated to Fort Benning, GA, where she worked on a military base as a care provider to three little girls of a high-ranking officer. Mildred lived in the home with this family, because they adored her and her nurturing spirit so much. She later moved to Cleveland, She continued practicing her faith at St. Andrews Missionary Baptist Church along with her sisters Ora Lee Hunter and Dexie Ann Jackson. She then began to create her legacy.
She leaves this legacy of Love and faith to her two children: Ruth Ann and Linda Jackson. Her siblings, Portia (Willie Henry) Cowan of Union Springs, AL, Mac Arthur Jackson of Auburn AL. Grandchildren; her first and adored Bobby Jackson (aka her “bob”), Darsheuna (Allan) Dumas; Charsheuna Holmes. Great grandchildren; Nalla’Alexis, Allan Jr, Charshaun, Allana, Alexander, Bobby Jr, Jeriaye, Royal, Loyal, Milo, and Serenity. Her special nieces Janice Hunter, Katrina Jackson and Deadra Peah. Her special nephew the late Anthony Bernard Jackson, along with a host of other loving nieces, nephews, a multitude of cousins and dear (beloved) friends.
Mildred was not only a loving, nurturing grandmother to her own, but also to other extended family and friends. Everybody knew her as “Grandma”. She enjoyed baking her famous sweet potato pies, playing bingo with her daughter Linda, shopping with her daughter Ruth, and spending quality time and creating wonderful memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandma loved watching Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, Steve Harvey, Family Feud, Cavs games and her “stories’ ‘. She loved attending family reunions and other family gatherings. As her source of joy…. was family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings, Bennie lll, Gussie, Ora, Columbus, Annie, Dexie, Andrew, Willie Seal and Sue, and her late great granddaughter Brianna Jackson.
