Miles Smith Jr. was born in Montgomery, Alabama April 26, 1948 to Miles Sr. and Helen Smith. He is the oldest of eight siblings and prodigy of Cleveland Metropolitan School District. He was always very conscientious of his appearance, particularly maintaining his immaculate hair styles which clearly defined his uniqueness and individuality. He was employed as a Machinist Operator for a period of time. As life progressed, he decided to join the military to further pursue his ambitions. He served faithfully in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge in 1975.
When Miles returned home he realized that education was the key to his future. He left Cleveland, Ohio and pursued academic excellence at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. He always encouraged his siblings, nieces and nephews to develop a strong work ethic and broaden their horizon academically. He would always converse with others about the value of an education and returning to Atlanta, Georgia. Miles was a quiet man of few words but when he did speak his point was well received.
Miles enjoyed eating Coconut Cake and drinking a lot of Pepsi! He also enjoyed watching wrestling and of course listening to the oldies, especially The Temptations. Miles once sang first tenor. During his active years he really enjoyed interacting with his cousins socially and other acquaintances. He was also helpful around the house; his favorite job was mowing the lawn and making certain the garbage was emptied.
Miles Jr’s proudest day of his life was on September 17, 2017 when he accepted Christ. His favorite response was “God is good”.
