Milton Holmes born in Kingston Jamaica, to parents Lincoln Holmes and Phyllis DaCosta. Affectionately known as “Slim” to his friends in Jamaica, was a man of integrity, faith, and unwavering dedication to family and work. He was known for his beautiful penmanship, eloquent speech, and the quiet dignity with which he lived his life.
Born on February 25, 1942, and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, on crossroad, he was a member of the Catholic Church as an altar boy and attended Sunday school at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kingston.
A devoted and hardworking father, he took great pride in producing the highest quality work and faithfully providing for his family. He was generous with his time and talents as an electrician, always willing to help friends and others in need by fixing and repairing small projects in houses and cars. His work ethic was exceptional—he was disciplined, obedient in his work style, and rarely missed a day of work.
In his early years, he rode his bicycle to his post office job at Half-Way Tree Post Office until he earned enough to purchase a motorcycle. He often shared stories of his adventures, including his attempts to hike to find the start of Dunn’s River Falls, memories that reflected his determination and love of life.
He spent three years in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, working at the U.S. Naval Base, where he perfected his cooking skills and worked tirelessly—once worked around the clock—helping to build a water plant. Move to New York then settled in Ohio where he later graduated from Lincoln Electric Welding School and went on to enjoy a distinguished career, working for over 40 years in his profession.
Family was the center of his life. He treasured vacations spent driving with his loved ones to New York and Florida to visit family, creating lasting memories along the way. His commitment to faith, family, and hard work never wavered.
He is survived by his brother, Lennox Holmes, sister, Marcia DaCosta, his beloved wife Pauline of 55 years, his four children, Andrea, Michael, Kevin, and Theresa. His eight grandchildren, Dylan Holmes, Elijah Jackson, Isaiah Jackson, Olivia Jackson, Xavier Holmes, Ariana Jackson, Noah Holmes, and Asia Holmes. His two great grandchildren, Darius Holmes and Violet Holmes who will forever honor his legacy of love, integrity, and devotion.
