Her Story
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother
On May 31, 2025, Heaven rejoiced and welcomed our family matriarch into the arms of her dear Savior Lord Jesus Christ. Mother Dorothy Mae Miller was born on July 12, 1927, in Louisville, Alabama, to the late Victoria and Jessie Curry. From humble beginnings, she blossomed into a woman of elegance, strength, and unwavering faith. A proud graduate of beauty school, she had a natural eye for beauty-not only outwardly, but in the way she carried herself and poured into others. She was the loving mother of Victor and Carolyn Curry, and her journey of motherhood would continue to grow in purpose and love.
On April 19, 1946, her life was forever changed when she met the love of her life, the late Bishop Warren E. Miller. The moment he saw her, he was captivated-she was, in his words, “the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on.” He knew immediately that he had found his queen. Their love story would become the foundation of a 75-year union built on faith, devotion, and purpose. From their blessed marriage came four children: Ronald, Yvonne, Warren Jr, and Gregory.
Mother Miller’s spiritual journey deepened when her husband gave his life to Christ. Together, they joined Williams Temple Church of God in Christ in Cleveland, Ohio, under the leadership of the late Bishop Ulysses E. Miller. It was there that Mother Miller also surrendered her heart to the Lord. She would go on to serve as the radiant and exemplary First Lady of the ministry, embodying grace, poise, and wisdom in all she did.
At the demise of Bishop Warren Miller, Mother Miller became the first mother of the Heavenly Bound Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Administrative Assistant Pastor, Ronald Miller. There she served with the same spirit and further until she could no longer serve.
She was not only a devoted wife and nurturing mother, but also a spiritual mother to many. Her love knew no bounds-extending far beyond her household and into the lives of countless women, whom she mentored, counseled, and uplifted. A true Proverbs 3:16-17 woman, she walked in dignity and strength, always with kindness on her lips and wisdom in her heart:
“Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left-hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” – Proverbs 3:16-17
Mother Miller was a powerful intercessor-one who stood in the gap in prayer, carrying the burdens of others before the throne of God. Whether you needed guidance, encouragement, correction, or simply someone to believe with you, she was there, steadfast and spirit led. Her life was a royal example of a woman crowned with God’s glory and clothed in His righteousness.
To know Mother Dorothy Miller was to know love in action, wisdom in motion, and royalty wrapped in humility. She was the heartbeat of her family and a pillar in the kingdom of God. Her legacy will continue through every life she touched with her prayers, her teaching, her laughter, and her immeasurable love.
She is preceded in death by her husband the late Bishop Warren E Miller, brothers Robert, Benford and Thomas Curry and sisters Silla Bea Burkhalter and Elline Barclay.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son Victor Curry (Kathy), her daughter Carolyn Curry, her son Ronald Miller (Valerie), her daughter Yvonne Howard (Ernest), her sons Warren Miller Jr and Gregory Miller; and grandchildren Nannette Crabbe, Laurie Curry, Kenneth Curry (Lucia) Shena Blount, Jaison Howard (Selina), Damion Howard (Joni) Lauren Miller, Sonequa Warren (Dion), Sheri Williams, Tyvonny Robinson and a host of great-grandchildren.
