Karious McDaniel, born on April 10, 1931, peacefully and quietly entered into Eternal Life on November 3, 2021 by the side of his loving wife of 63 years, Elder Dr. Queen Esther McDaniel.
Karious was born in Earle, Arkansas to the union of Kearney and Clara McDaniel. He was preceded in death by both his parents, three brothers, one sister and granddaughter, Kinyelle A. McDaniel.
Karious McDaniel grew up in Earle, Arkansas. However, he received his formal education in Lansing, Arkansas. There he obtained his primary education in a one-room schoolhouse to the eighth grade.
Karious McDaniel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 17. He was baptized at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Lansing, Arkansas in 1948. Through his faith he was given a gift that allowed him to sing melodiously. He faithfully attended Sunday School and grew to understand the importance of having a personal relationship with Christ and being obedient to His will. He was ordained as a deacon in 1952.
On January 1, 1955, at the age of 24, Karious moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he found employment at George Eli’s Wrecking Company for a brief period before finding stable employment at Master Metal where he worked for 16-years. He also worked at Sun Oil from July 12, 1971 to January 18, 1974. During that time, he joined the Second Tabernacle Baptist Church and served faithfully.
Karious was drafted into the United States Navy on November 5, 1955 and served his country honorably for 21 months. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 5, 1957.
It was after returning to Cleveland, Ohio from the military and worshipping at Greater Friendship Baptist Church that Karious met his helpmate, Queen Esther Sharp. In six-months’ time, they were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 28, 1958. To this union three (3) children were born, Kennis, Karell and Karlett McDaniel. His greatest joy and accomplishment was his family. He was a loving husband, as well as a wonderful, kind, and loving father to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Karious answered the call to the Gospel of Christ Jesus and afterwards preached his trial sermon on October 18, 1964 at Grace Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of the late Pastor W. L. Boykins. Karious later joined Union Grove Baptist Church and served under the late Pastor E. L. Rogers.
It was at Union Grove that United Missionary Baptist Church was organized. Karious was called on July 31, 1967 to serve as the Pastor of this flock. He served as the only spiritual shepherd for 40 years giving loyal and dedicated service to one congregation. Over 40 years of pastoring, many soul winners have been birthed out of this mighty ministry which has led to souls coming to Christ. There are so many more achievements in his 40 years of pastoring, too numerous to mention. But his greatest legacy, SOULWINNING, continues on in our lives.
Karious was well known for his many song renditions: such as “Show Me The Way Lord”, “Talk About A Good Time”, “Precious Lord”, Duets with his wife: “Just The Two Of Us”, “Sweet Home” , “Christ Is All” Mercy Lord”, and many more. He and his wife also performed concerts around the city of Cleveland along with other pastors at different churches.
Pastor McDaniel retired as Pastor on July 15, 2006 followed by two more years as Interim Pastor at United Missionary Baptist Church. On May 30, 2007 he officially became Pastor Emeritus of United Missionary Baptist Church. The Holy Spirit led Karious to join Holy Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Chelton C. Flanagan from 2014 to November 2016. He felt led to join Elizabeth Baptist Church on December 4, 2016 where his daughter was a member. He attended Sunday School and morning worship until his health failed.
On November 3rd, 2021, after 90 years of a long, fruitful and blessed life, God called our dear Pastor Emeritus home. Pastor Emeritus Karious McDaniel fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give him… 2 Timothy 4:7-8
