The circumstances around Naim’s birth are mysterious, from the known facts he was born around June of 1933, however the exact date is unknown. Born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad, Naim was brought to the US into Tampa, Florida. In his early childhood he was adopted and raised by Melvin and Marie Holidan, the couple were travelling sharecroppers who went from farm to farm looking for work in the fields picking sugar cane, cotton, and tobacco.
As Naim entered adulthood, he not only became a third-degree Mason, but he was also introduced to Islam through the teachings of the honorable Elijah Muhammad then holding the position of student captain.
Naim attended Akron University and completed with a degree. He used his skills working with mentally disabled individuals for years. Naim loved what he did and the clients he worked with loved him dearly.
In his free time, Naim loved to fish; you could find him out at various lakes catching fish. After fishing, he would invite family over to host a fish fry! His favorite breakfast dish was fish and grits, which he would enjoy with his children at least once a month. Naim was also loved music; jazz was his music of choice and John Coltran was one of his favorite artists.
Naim was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Melvin, and Marie Holidan; two grandsons, Naim Habeeb-Ullah and Davante Ware.
He is survived by his children, Micheal and Joyce Dix, Nadiyah, Naim, Muhammad, Salahudin, Aqillah, Abdal, Qawii, and Jesus Habeeb-Ullah; 41 grandchildren and over 43 great-grandchildren.
