There was an old country boy born October 7, 1951, to Leroy Bibb and Lucille Vinson in Moulton, Alabama, by the name of Nathaniel Bibb. He grew up a fine, independent, hardworking young man who loved to compete in track and field and football. Nate was so great at each sport that he featured in the Moulton and local newspapers. Scouts wanted him at various colleges: Auburn, Alabama, and Caltech – to name a few, and they came from all around to see him race, catch the football, and outrun receivers and competitors. He was unbeatable and unstoppable on the field but never pursued it, saying, “I’m just an old country boy.”
Nate later went to Cleveland to visit his Uncle Otis, who migrated there years prior. While working at his uncle’s store, he saw a beautiful girl that sparked his interest, Renee, who was with her young son, Richard. Nate would walk them home from the store each time, which became every day because she liked him too. They were soon married and had a baby girl, Nataunda. He and Renee went on to live a blissful, love-filled life until the Lord called her home in 2008. Nate worked hard to provide for his family and was employed at Hi-Tech Metal for over three decades.
Nate was kind, sweet, loyal, giving, patient, funny, and pleasant to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. However, beware not cross him or give him BS because he would have let you know. If you heard him say: “What’s wrong witcha,” “Got to be crazy,” “You musta lost yo mind,” or “Gotta be the devil,” you would know that you have done wrong.
His favorite activities included playing poker and bowling, which he was great at and very competitive. He achieved many trophies and awards throughout his lifetime, breaking numerous records along the way. He also loved watching sports, game shows, comedy shows, and westerns.
If you never got the chance to be around GR8N8, you missed a quality experience. He was an impressive man, a one-of-a-kind, class act, and he will be missed infinitely!
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Renee Bibb; and siblings, Lillie, Dough Poppa, Sarah, Thomas, Frog, Riley, and Larry.
Nate leaves to mourn, his only living sister, Mikki; children, Richard Bowman (Tameka), and Nataunda Bibb; grandchildren, Johnnie Kyles (Cynthia), Quivonn Bowman, Alex Sabata, KaVon, and Qiaja; great-grandchildren, Noah, Lucy, Love, Eden, Ava, and Quinn; mother-in-law, Reola Nickerson; siblings-in-law: James Bowman (Carolyn), Luther Bowman, Jackie Mills (Charles), Diane Hudson (Ralph); as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
