Onetha Corney went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2022.
Onetha Corney was born May 1, 1937, in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Warner Calvin Crayton, Sr. and Sarah Jane Crayton. When her parents moved the family to Ohio in 1941, Onetha attended Kinsman Elementary School, Rawlings Jr. High School, and graduated from John Hay High School. Onetha attended Kent State University and Dyke College.
Onetha was baptized at Unity Baptist Church; later joining Second Lakeview Baptist Church, where her father, the late Rev. Warner Crayton, Sr. was the pastor.
Onetha worked at Job Corps, Eaton Corporation, where she started the library, and the Greater Cleveland Growth Association. She also held several part time positions post retirement. In addition, Onetha served as the Treasurer of Woodmere Village, and served as a councilwoman.
In 1956, Onetha married Lucius Trammer. From their marriage, one child was born, Lucius Trammer, Jr. In 1992, Onetha met David Corney in London; they married in 1998, and David settled with Onetha in her home of 30 years in the Village of Woodmere, Ohio. Her husband of 22 years passed away September 25, 2020. As a couple, they traveled throughout England, Paris, Wales, Bali, Hong Kong, Hawaii, the Caribbean, South America, Canada, the U.S.A., and South Africa. Onetha loved many things; for example, SHOPPING, classical music, classic, foreign, and animated movies; she was an avid reader. Onetha’s nickname was “Neat,” which was so appropriate as she was stylish and neat in her clothing, and in her home décor.
Onetha leaves to mourn and cherish her memory to one son, Lucius Reynolds Trammer, Jr. of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Mattie Rushin of Cleveland, OH, Dr. Blenda Crayton (Sebastian) of Wake Forest, NC, two brothers, Rev. Dr. Bernard Crayton (Marcella) of Louisville, KY, and Warner Calvin Crayton, Jr. of Temple Hills, MD; one aunt, Ernestine Poole of Richmond Heights, OH; three nieces, Sandra Bolton (Marvin) of Bedford Heights, OH, Karen Howse of Oakwood Village, OH, and Ashley Harmon (Brandon) of Newark, CA, two nephews, Justin Crayton (Tyshala) of Ft. Worth, TX, and Kelvin Crayton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two grand-nieces, Shannon Howse of Oakwood Village, OH, Nia Harmon of Newark, CA; two grand-nephews, Ahmad Nickerson (Sharonda) of Lawrensville, GA, and Christian Howse of Edina, Minnesota; three great grand-nieces, Aliyah, Autum, and Kalia; six great grand-nephews, Carter, Bradley, Sevn, Elijah, Ahmad, Jr., and Dashawn, and a host of loving relatives, caregivers, and friends. Onetha’s older sister, Juanita Vance preceded her in death.
