Patrice Mattie Hunt, 74, transitioned home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born on October 22, 1947, to her parents Gladys Stiggers and Horace Stiggers in Akron, Ohio.
Patrice graduated from North High School in 1965. She reached the finals in the U.S. Negro Scholar Test. She was granted a scholarship under the 1964-1965 National Achievement Scholarship Program. She attended the University of Akron studying law.
Patrice came to know the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Warren, Ohio and Living Stone Apostolic Church. She was a bible student and studied every day.
She was a dedicated Telephone Operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Company, now doing business as AT&T Ohio. She worked there 30 years and retired. After retirement she worked for Akron Automobile Association (AAA) as an operator for 8 years.
Patrice will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James of 50 years. She was kind, wonderful and beloved. Patrice’s warm smile, tenderness and unbiased compassion will be greatly missed.
Her hobbies included bible study, reading books, cooking, listening to music and feeding the ducks at Lake Anna. She loved spending time with her family. She was a philanthropist for many nonprofit organizations and countless individuals who were in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Horace Stiggers; great grandmother, Mattie Stiggers; sisters, Sandra Clark and Selsee Dancy; nephew, Randy Clark and stepson, Martin Hunt.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband, James Hunt Sr.; daughter, Julie Hunt of Akron, OH; son, Michael Hunt of Akron, OH; stepson, James Hunt Jr. of Greenville, SC; brother, Gilbert Stiggers of Akron, OH; sister-in-law, Prophetess/Evangelist Mary Ann Linear III of Akron, OH; brother-in-law, Herman (Brenda) Hunt of Cleveland, OH, Robert L. (Gwendolyn) Hunt Sr. of Hudson, OH; grandchildren, Everett (Scooter) Whitfield, April Whitfield, Jermany Hunt all of Akron, OH; great-grandchildren, step great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
