Paul L. Hunt was born on September 13, 1948. He was the sixth of eight children born to Joseph and Anna Hunt in New Orleans, Louisiana.
As a child, Paul embraced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended Church regularly and sang in the Church choir. He started singing professionally for the Kinsman Boys Choir at the tender age of eight. He later attended Moody Bible College and the Ashland Seminary. He was a founding member of Leviticus Gospel group whereby they produced several albums. He attended Cleveland Schools, graduating from East Tech High School in 1967. His best friend Darryl Slaughter enjoyed going places to hand dance because it was always a competition between schools. And he thought he was good.
He loved deep sea fishing, bowling, training, fashion, traveling and walking his baby Kady, (Shih Tzu) taking care of the hummingbirds, and taking care of his yard.
Paul later embraced Masonry and became a dedicated Prince Hall Mason. He was a Past Master of William T. Boyd Lodge #79.
A member of Bezaleel Consistory #15, which held the 33rd Degree of Masonry, which is the last Masonic Degree. Past Royal Advisor of Emanuel Guild #3, Past Grand Royal Advisor of David V. Moore Grand Guild, Past Potentate of El Hasa Temple #28, Past High Priest of Cuyahoga Chapter #36 Royal Arch Masons, Past Grand Royal Chief Advisor of Anderson-Springer LOCOP, Past Eminent Pryor, KYCH York Cross of Honor, Past Thrice Illustrious Master, of Adoniram Council #1 of Royal and Select Masters, Past Eminent Commander of Emanuel Commandry #32 and advisor to the Daughters.
He married Cynthia Avery-Hunt August 1, 1998. They shared a love of the Masonic Order and the Cleveland Browns in their 26 years of marital happiness. Paul was the father of two daughters, Kelley Hunt-Wiltz (Milton) of Norfolk, Virginia, and Paula Hunt-Hanson (Mario), four grandchildren; Kristen Steen, Alexandria Washington, Dominque Hunt, and Toni Hunt. Seven great-grandchildren; Kristen Washington, Tanner Washington, Quyinn Washington, Aubrie Washington, Demi Dickson, Beaux Dickson and Bali Dickson and many nieces and nephews. Both parents preceded Paul in death along with Brother Joseph, and Sisters Joyce, Rose and Elaine and many nieces and nephews.
His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife Cynthia Avery-Hunt, Sister Rita Collins (Joe- deceased), brothers Clarence Peter (Marsha), and Robert Hunt (Katelyn). Paul enjoyed being the neighborhood hero and helping others. His Legacy will go on forever, and he will be truly missed.
