Pinkie Lee Monroe, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on August 16, 1950, in Brewton, Alabama, Pinkie was the cherished daughter of James Hardy and Delores Hunter, both of whom have preceded her in death.
Pinkie attended Booker T. Washington High School, where she laid the foundations for a life dedicated to family, faith, and hard work. She accepted Christ at an early age, and carried her Baptist faith into her life, providing a strong moral compass for her family and community.
Professionally, Pinkie was a respected Sales Manager at an Insurance Company, where she worked diligently and with integrity until her retirement. Her colleagues and clients alike admired her commitment and professionalism.
Pinkie married the love of her life, George Monroe, with whom she shared many joyful years until his passing. From this union, 3 children came to be – Roger Monroe Jones, Annette Michelle Monroe Wells, and Michael A. Monroe Sr.
Pinkie was a dedicated mother whose love and guidance shaped the lives of her children and extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pinkie had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing meals for her family, creating an enduring legacy of love and delicious memories. She was also an avid sports fan, particularly of football, a passion she enjoyed sharing with her loved ones.
She is survived by her three children, Roger, Annette, and Michael; her sister Julia McCaskill; her brothers Charles Hunter and Tony Hardy; and her sister Veronica Hunter. Pinkie was also a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind three uncles and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Pinkie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Monroe, and her sister Charlotte Hunter.
Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her. The family finds comfort in knowing that Pinkie has reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and rests now in eternal peace.
