Ralph Darnell Lane, (71), was the second oldest of eight siblings – Marvin, Calvin (deceased), Willetta, Kim, Robert (deceased), Keith, and Eric (deceased). He was affectionately known as “Poncho”. He loved his mother, Lillian (deceased), with all his heart. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Poncho attended Cleveland Public Schools.
His early career introduced him to John and Barb, owners of J & B Market, who loved him and treated him as a son. He worked with them for many years until the business closed. Poncho was then employed with Sanson & Son Food Distribution Co. He worked there for 37 years until he retired in 2008.
Throughout his life, Poncho found joy in everything he did and in the people who surrounded him. His hobbies included shooting pool, ping-pong, football, softball, playing cards and music. He made many life-long friends. Poncho is a fun-loving, caring and generous son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was always there if you needed him. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his siblings; sister-in-law Lenora; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Poncho passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025 embraced with our love.
