Ramona Kim Mitchell, affectionately known as “Mona”, was born on February 26, 1957, to the late Curtis Keith and Essie Banks. She closed and rested those beautiful brown eyes on October 21, 2025.
Ramona was a proud graduate of Buchtel High School and continued her education at the University of Akron. She later fell in love and married Lonnie Mitchell, with whom she settled to raise her family, cementing a lifetime of loyalty to her hometown.
Mona was baptized at an early age at United Baptist Church. She held several jobs throughout her career, retiring from Progressive Stamping and Fabrication, Inc. She was also a dedicated member of the G.E.M. social club. Mona found much joy in listening to music and line dancing, often with her older brother Eddie. She never missed a chance to enjoy a social gathering, and she was well known for her spirited personality—always devoted to doing what she wanted to do. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, her best friend Shirley Gates, and her beloved dog, “KC and the Sunshine Band Mitchell.”
Ramona was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Essie Banks and Curtis Keith; and her siblings, three brothers, Kenneth, Eddie, and Freddie Taylor, and sister, Regina Williams.
She is survived by her four children: Robert Benson, Tyrone Keith, Tramayne Lucas, and Lionel Mitchell; six cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Emma Benson, and brother, Tony Taylor, as well as many close friends, extended family members, and a wide circle of neighbors who will miss her dearly.
